As of Late

Jon went to LA for a couple nights for work and the boys and I painted and watched Percy Jackson and the Olympians one night.

I actually slept pretty well. A blessing, no TV, scriptures, and half a sleeping pill.

The first bite of snow for the season (The soon to be silly hat, that we forgot to pay for cuz Zac was wearing it out of the store. We did go back and pay for it).

While Zac was at preschool for Silly Hat day, I took Max to the library's story-time Halloween Party. It was fun to see some people from church there, color, play musical pumpkin, get a few treats, watch clogging and hear a fun story. It was pretty busy!

Later that day the boys wanted to play in the snow. Zac was so anxious to make a snowman. But Max was his stubborn self, and would not put 2 of his toys away so he could go out too.  So, Zac went out and Max tried to put his snow clothes on by himself.

I helped Zac make the first snowman of the season. I had to assure him that we will have LOTS- PLENTY of snow to make more.

Too Early for Snow?

Original Post date: Oct. 26, 2010

The last few days has been consistently stormy. It rained ALL day on Sunday, and most of the day Saturday and half of Monday. Last night it started to snow here.

I personally, am so ready for Christmas to come! I'm already done with Halloween, even though we've hardly done anything.

I hope I can hold out for the next month before swing into Christmas gear.

 Christmas is coming!

I have some back posting to do-standby.

Silly Hat Day

The Wednesday before Halloween, was Silly Hat day at Zac's preschool. So we headed to the craft store-my favorite place! And looked for stuff to make a silly hat. (Thank you Callie for the pipe cleaner idea!)

Zac really liked the sparkly pompoms which reminded me of fireworks.

And since one of Zac's favorite things to do during the year is watch the Fourth of July fireworks, I thought this would be great. We made little people sitting on a blanket watching the fireworks too! He helped me glue some things and it was his idea to put his name on there too.

At school

It was fun to go to the store with just Zac and to make this with him! He loved it!

Pumpkin Patch - The Red Barn

We love going to The Red Barn to get pumpkins every year.  But now that we live pretty far, we weren't going to go. But we decided we'd just trek out there.

The first winter storm was rolling in about 11a. We were hoping that we'd be able to grab our pumpkins and get back on the road before the storm hit...but if we weren't so lucky, it would be seen as an adventure. And it was an adventure.

On the way out Jon had a short conference call...

But Max wouldn't be quiet, so I let him play games on my phone to keep him distracted.

Sweet Zac, was patiently waiting his turn (when Dad would get off the phone).

And I was impatiently waiting for attention from Jon :]

We got there at 10:30a, right when our friends the Grossen's got there, and the tractor was ready and waiting. It was barely sprinkling at this point, so I grabbed the umbrella just in case...

With the weather we weren't able to get our traditional family pic on the hay ride.

Zac getting wet as the rain picked up.

Max is pretty soaked. Luckily his coat was scotch guarded. When dry Max's coat is not shiny.

We each took a boy and walked half way down the patch and took 1 min. to chose a pumpkin for each boy and then went back to the canopy. The rain really started to come down.

Mud from Max's shoes because I was holding him

Gratefully, a truck from the barn came to take the little babies back to the barn, so they didn't have to wait in the rain on the tractor.

Me fairly unsuccessfully attempting to hold the umbrella over me, Max and little Jack who was sitting behind me.

See how soaked my pants were!

And Jon's wet hair! He gave his beanie to Max.

We hung out at the barn had doughnuts and apple cider.  Then we went to the Grossen's to watch the BYU football game. The rain was really coming down!

And it had snowed on Timp while we were at the barn

Here's Max falling asleep on the way home. I'm glad we had the DVD player in the car.

The pumpkins got frozen outside that night and the next night since it snowed. So we didn't end up carving the pumpkins.

Trunk or Treat

I better get caught up on my blogging before the other holidays roll around.

For PEIP we did a trunk or treat this year, because it was pretty simple. I think next year they'll try to do a cook off/pot luck with the trunk or treat.

I found this cool spider web at JoAnns and it was on clearance! I love that they put all their holiday stuff on sale with still a week or so before the holiday.

One of Zac's really good friends happened to be there with her family. Zac was Peter Pan and ironically, she was Tiger Lily-so cute!!

Me and the boys-This is pretty much the best pic we have of the boys Halloween costumes. Peter Pan and Captain Hook.

New Hair Color!

I colored my hair a couple weeks ago!  I had been wanting to do this for about a year now, but not knowing exactly how to execute it. Also, worrying about what people would think about me. After deliberating for quite a while I just did it! And I love it! I just wish it would last longer. They are extension. If they weren't so expensive and high maintenance, I would probably keep this up for a year or so.

Also, I have been feeling VERY un-photogenic lately! And it has been hard to get a good pic of the color with the right lighting. And Jon has been so busy lately that he can't help me. He's been out of town 3 nights this week!

Hahaha, I love Max's stubborn face here! One of his favorite things is to do opposite of what you ask

Campfire at Whiskey Springs

With all the busyness that has been this summer, we didn't get to go camping as often as we usually do. We had only gone twice. On a typical summer we'd have gone around 5 times. I was really bummed about not getting to go camping more, and sad about the impending winter, so we were going to go camping one last time.  The day before, I chickened out. It had gotten cold at night here. I had burned my leg the week before and I just didn't think I could pull off a cold camping night.

So we decided to just do a campfire. I called the RS Pres. and she told me about Whiskey Springs. Its pretty nice day place (except for the gas tankers driving on the highway every few minutes). There is a creek running right by the spot, then the road right there. You can see the side rail. There was a large open space too. We were the only ones there for about an hour. The boys loved running amok.

Here is our spot

There was also a quarter mile paved trail off the open area.

It was pretty even though many leaves had fallen off the trees

The boys eating their hot dogs. Unfortunately, I forgot all the condiments and my camera. (I'm still working on getting organized better, but also to roll with things.)  All these pics are from my iphone. Some of the pics were too dark so I had to put some lighting affects so they were easier to see.

Jon had the great idea of making cocoa for the thermos before we left so we'd have it warm.

Zac loving his chocolate sandwich. He didn't want any mallow.

There is also a creek that goes right by the spot

Proof that I was there

Like his dad, Jon always comes up with fun games for the boys to play. They played hide n' seek and also Jon pretended he was a bear and would growl and jump out at the boys. Zac is scared, waiting for daddy to growl. I suggested Zac growl to help him be less afraid. Its pretty funny to hear.

The bear!

Max cold and looking for daddy

We also told scary stories by the fire. Zac's was an epic run on of a story, picking pieces from Jon and my stories. It was pretty funny. Jon told a creepy story about One Eyed Willy, the lumberjack! And mine was a Halloween story about a boy turning into a vampire/bat. Jon said the ending needed some work.  There's no competing with his story telling skills!

It was a great time. I am so glad we got to go and then come home and sleep in our warm beds!
