Like Butta'

My darling Husband, got my subliminal messages (the word "knife" texted everytime I made dinner).

Early last week as we were about to sit down to dinner, there was a knock on the door. It was the UPS man! I was pretty confused. What did we order?

I was thrilled to see these in the box!!

These knives are amazing! After reading all the reviews, Jon picked the perfect set! And when I first used them I was shocked at how smooth, clean, and easy they cut-like butta'!! I had a perma-grin, over knives! Seriously though, you don't know what your missing til you try good knives.

Thanks Honey, its so much easier to make dinner now. No more carrots flying across the counter as I chop them.

Max

I am sitting here getting the rest of my primary lesson ready, trying to hurry so I can get in the shower and to the church in 45 mins, Jon is walking out the door to do Teacher pick ups and will be back in about 15 mins. Max starts crying because Jon leaves, I am busy with my lesson, but hear Zac talking to Max like we do when Zac is throwing a fit. Zac says, "what are you doing Max? why are you crying?" Then 5 mins later, I am walking to the back and I notice Max has put himself in time out-I presume for "throwing a fit". Because he knows that is what happens with Zac throws a fit. But he was not throwing a fit, just crying. So funny, and cute, and sad, I suppose. Well, I just killed 5 more mins of getting ready time. Have a good Sunday!

Chipped

Max was trying to climb over Zac, who was laying in the hall, when he tripped and hit his mouth on the tile. He was crying pretty hard and I could tell he was in pain and had his hand to his mouth. When I looked at his mouth I was just looking for blood or cuts, and didn't see any. He stopped crying after a minute and wanted to play again. So I didn't think it was a big deal.

Then next morning when I was getting him ready, I noticed this:

(Notice the 2 pink scars to the lower left of his chin? The corner of our TV stand cut him while he was trying to shimmy by. He has also cut his bottom lip countless times. He is pretty clumsy and brave . . . not a good combination!)

He chipped his tooth. We went to the dentist to smooth out the sharp point. Luckily, it was less than a minute. Max was pretty freaked out. But he was very happy to get his prize.

Wrestling Around

I love this!! It is so cute! (but only for so long huh?)

Go Max!

Mobile Uploads

as Facebook calls them. Random pictures from my phone:

While driving to CA back in July, when we were in South Utah County there were graffitied train cars, and one of them said "Munk" and then when we stopped at a gas station outside of Vegas, "Munk" was all graffitied on the gas pump-weird.

Zac the ladies man (he really plays with girls sooo well). These little girls are from his preschool class last year. This was a water party over the summer at his teachers house.

Way cute houses on the way to the Oquirrh Mt Temple.

Just playing outside during the summer. We love to take naps on the grass under the umbrella.

Trying on a dress at Platos. I wanted to see what Jon thought. Cute dress, but it was too short.

Suprise Jon, I bought a ceiling fan!

My best knife broke!! :( Jon's oldest sister gave us the second knife set that they got for their wedding. Since we didn't get any. It is still the only set we have. It didn't have a chopping knife. So when I got into cooking a few years ago, Jon bought this one for me for Christmas a 3 years ago. It was my favorite! Everytime I make dinner I miss it!! We need new knives so bad!
I took the picture because I was so shocked. I pulled it out of the knife block and the blade just stayed in it :(

Jon rearranged our bedroom, and our night stands won't fit next to the bed. Now I have to lean half way out to reach it. These shelves are what I want now.

Cute hat I saw at the Mall. Haha, love his expression

Daddy look alike. I met Rachel for lunch at Jimmy John's and this guy came in. (The one on the left) If you notice his shirt it is a SkullCandy shirt. Bright red. Jon has a bright orange one just like it, see here. So this guy came in and Max kept saying, "DaYe, DaYe, DaYe". It was so funny! He thought this guy was Jon. His hair was about the same color as Jon's and the cut looked similar from the back.

This is for Michael, my father-in-law; the maple syrup purest! Maybe now that you live in WI you can get a bottle for less than $75.00!!! (Found at a local Whole Foods store.)

A few weeks ago we went on a fun date. We went and ate Thai food, and headed to a local music venue to listen to some Indie bands. It was a fun time. There were 4 groups/performers. I like 2 of the 4. We didn't get home til Midnight. It was interesting to go do something more "young" or it felt young to be there.
One of the bands

I participate in a carpool for Zac's preschool, and this particular day we had an extra one. It was weird to see 5 kids in the car!

Last night, we went on a date and got some burgers, and then hung out at Starbucks for awhile. There was a miscommunication so I got 2 gingerbread steamers. I love this drink during the holiday. Since we were there a while, I drank my first one and half the second one. I was feeling pretty guilty about the calories. And energized to be out of the house with no kids. So I suggested we hike the Y. There was snow! Contrary to my general sentiment. It got me more excited. It was fun.

(I am really trying to embrace the snow and not curse it. And it seems to be working out. It helps that Mother Nature is easing me in, and not dumping yet. It am really getting excited for Christmas . . .and the snow!)

The night lights from the trail

King's Peak

So this is a back post. I keep forgetting to post about this because I didn't go on this trip. Jon and his Dad and Brother, Dave, went backpacking to King's Peak in August. It was a hard hike. They got on a wrong path that increased the hike by 3 miles. Michael had back pain the whole way. But they all hung in there. They ate dehydrated food and enjoyed the views.

Jon and his Dad (There is a picture almost exactly like this with Jon and Jason, his brother, that was taken about 12 yrs ago, the last time they went. . . but I can't find it! :( Maybe I will find it later.)

G.I. Joe

A few years ago, Jon read Ghandi's Bio, Tolstoy's The Kingdom of God is within You, and something else. He really picked up their sentiment of anti-violence.

So far, we haven't had any toy guns. Which we know, seems not so effective because little boys will make guns out of anything even if we think they don't know what a gun is :)

It was very funny to me that Jon, after hearing that Zac plays with Barbie's at his girl-friend's house, wanted to go right out and get a gun carrying G.I. Joe! Ha ha ha, I still think its funny!

We found some old G.I. Joe cartoons online, so he would know what G.I. Joe is all about.

Max got into it too!

Funny!

Reading the Comics with Dad

I ordered the paper to attempt to "coupon"- so far its going pretty well. Reading the comics with Dad is quickly becoming a custom. Zac has picked up on saying, "get it?" at the end and then laughing-which is pretty funny in itself. Even though Jon tried to explain the pictures and reads the bubbles, Zac has no idea why its funny.

I just look at this and laugh! Max is total smothering Jon, but that doesn't stop them.

Half way through a comic Zac starts to get this concerned look on his face. I haven't figured out why yet . . .perhaps he is getting ready for the punchline :)

Miscellaneous

This is Zac illustrating and asking me, "why does a fly do this with his arms?" (why do they rub their arms together?)

Any answers?? I told him that's how they taste things to see if they are sweet. Is that right? Does anyone know why flies do that?

____________

Papa came into town one night to drive his car home to WI. It was a lot of fun to see him! Since it was his birthday that week and he'd be driving during it, we did a little birthday celebration. We're glad he got home safe and sound, especially making it through the first and huge snow storm in the Denver area.

Halloween Night

Halloween was on a Saturday, so it was a little tricky to know when to start trick-or-treating. When was too early? The first people to our door came at 6p. I would have liked to gone at 3 or 4...but is that acceptable??

We had Dan, Amy and Jack over for Halloween. It was fun to see them again, without several months passing first ;) We ate pizza and got ready to hit the streets. . . or street (singular).

Max had fallen asleep in the car at 4:45p. I was able to transfer him to his crib where he slept for another hour or so. When I woke him to eat dinner he was grumpy but still ate-a miracle. He was still grumpy when getting his costume on. But when he realized he was going to get candy his mood slowly changed.

The finished product: Marvel's Batman and Robin

I love how the cape came out

This was Max's first year to understand trick-or-treating. He was in a great mood once we went to a few houses and got some candy. It was pretty cute. He has been doing so good with his speech lately-picking more approximations (which are words/sounds he says that mean an actual word), and pronouncing things better. He tried to say trick or treat. I love that he tried it at each house-it was so cute. And as long as the person at the door held the bowl out Max kept taking a treat.

The little superheros

We checked out the loot and unloaded, our bowl of candy, got the kids ready for bed, then we watched "Cloverfield". It was a fun, low-key night-that how I like em'.

Halloween Fun

My parents were awesome and took the boys during our Halloween party. The boys got to spend the night and do fun Halloween activities. It was perfect. There was no way we were going to fit these in with the costume mayhem.

Festive sugar cookies with lots of sprinkles!

In the spring the boys got to go over and help plant pumpkin seeds in Nani and Papi's garden. Then they got to pick a pumpkin when they got big.

They also got to carve them.

This is Max's "Blue's clue's". So cute! I didn't even know they had patterns like this!

And of course Zac's Batman!

Thanks Mom and Dad the boys had so much fun!! And it was such a nice break for us!
