V-Day Treats

These are the Valentines that Zac gave to his preschool class on Thursday. They even have Transformer tattoos!!

So I was checking out this baking blog: Bakerella and I felt totally inspired. She makes "cake balls" and dips them and decorates them. They are really good and cute. So this was my attempt, just at the chocolates not the edible box. Lexie came over and made them with me. We listen to music, talked and had a good time. We also made Valentine's treats last year, perhaps we are making a tradition!

We used white almond bark to do the white...and I complete forgot that you cannot add anything except oil to almond bark...so when I tried to make the white, into pink it setup right away...luckily I had supplies to make royal icing and that worked great!

Jon was in SLC overnight for a work retreat, so I let Zac stay up with me. We didn't go to bed til around 11:30p-he was really good.

Lexie finally got the bow she was working on to look right...we were getting a little loopy by this time.

The final product...please forgive my makeshift box. Its a shoe box with wrapping paper.

These are the beautiful flowers that Jon got me for Valentine's Day! Thanks Hon!

While we were gone:

My sister Rachel watched the boys while we went to Midway and she posted a few (less than 60 sec.) videos of the boys on her blog:

Tubing and Shopping

On Saturday, we went to Soldiers Hollow to try out their tubing resort! It was a lot of fun. You buy a 2 hour pass and grab a tube. They have 7 tubing lanes/tracks. Some are a little faster than others. They also have a tow lift so you don't have to walk up the hill. We probably got 6 or 7 runs in. It was more fun to go together because we could get going faster. There were longer straps coming off the tubes so they could hook onto the tow. Jon would hold the strap from my tube and we would use a sling shot-type action to get more speed. He would push me away then he would get pulled closer and vice versa. It was a lot of fun. We raced once and....I won! :) Maybe it was the spinning action? I kept turning around..but really I think my lane was faster.

Then we went back to the room to get ready to go to Park City. We went to the traditional Dairy Keen for lunch. And headed off to Park City! There were some FANTASTIC sales!! I got a pair of Calvin Klein Jeans for $25! (I actually don't know how good that is..I hope it is...I NEVER shop...) The coolest thing though...they fit me!!! Wow it has been a lot time since I have had a pair of jeans that fit me the way they are supposed to.

We hit a lot of stores and I think we were there for 3 hours! It was so fun. No kids+cash!

So in the end I got 3 new outfits, a pair of shoes (Jon got some too, buy 1 get one 1/2 off), sun glasses, and a hat. And we got the boys a pair of sunglasses...we had to bring something back for them. Oh, and Bath and Body Works Shampoo and Conditioner for $1.89 each!

My hair was soo static-y when trying on clothes so I had to braid it to make it more manageable.

Then we ordered pizza hut to our room and watched the first season of "Lost" til 3:00am.

It was a great trip! And so fun to talk about how far we have come in the last 6 years, how we have changed for the better, and how excited we are for the rest of our future! I love you Jon, thanks for sharing your life with me!

The Inn on the Creek, Midway Utah

January 31 is our Anniversary. Jon and I have been married for 6 years. To celebrate we took the weekend off. Rachel and Jeremy watched the boys most of the weekend, and my parents watched them on Sat for a few hours.

We went to Midway Utah. This is where we went on our Honeymoon. Six years ago we stayed at the Homestead Resort. Then 2 years ago we went to Midway again and stayed at the Zermatt Resort and went snowmobiling. This this year we went and stayed at The Inn on the Creek-a nice Bed and Breakfast. There are 8 rooms in the main building and I think we got the best room. It was huge! And it had a huge bed. I think it was a California king. I got pictures of the room when we first got there...but I had to clear the memory card..and forgot to take more til we were about to leave...so the room is not made.

Gas fireplace, private balcony

This room is between the bedroom and the bathroom. Jon is walking out of the large bathroom. It had another sink, a shower, and a huge jetted tub!
The front
Up the street to the condos
A view from the meandering street up to the Inn. The morning after a foggy cold night.
A huge icicle!!

The first night we went and had dinner at the Blue Boar Inn, another Inn in Midway. It is a very nice European themed building. It was fine dining. The food was sooo good! We ordered good soups for the first course, corn chowder and french onion. Then I got filet minon-I have never had steak that tender and cooked that perfectly to my request. And Jon got roasted pheasant with chestnuts. And the french green beans was great too. The food was fantastic!! And I dare say worth the $110 bill!!
