The Rest of October

I guess, backposting is my new thing :P I just haven't been in the mood to blog. But it is a great, easy way to journal and keep track of our pictures, without scrapbooking. I am hoping during this snowy winter, come January, that I will be getting my blogs ready to publish for myself.  I think I am just going to use Photoshop or InDesign (if I can get the software). I personally, don't like the limitations on Blurb...maybe they've changed by now?

Anyway...

I volunteered to help with Zac's Halloween Preschool party. (I also signed up for all the parties, of which there are 6! Thinking I'd need something to keep me busy.) Little did I know, that in this case its not really help, its do. They typically have 3 mom's sign up. Each one is in charge of one thing: craft, treat, and game.  So I thought I'll do the craft. I love crafts after all, and it was an excuse to do one for Halloween.  Then I learned that I had to supply all the materials too-for 16 students. So I want to keep it cheap and simple. I searched all over the web and found a bunch of stuff. My favorite was this one:

Vampire Lollipops or "suckers" if you will! Here's the link

But these were so quick and since I supposedly had 20 mins to fill, I decided to do another one.

Mummy balls, link here

But these were a little tricky since kids were filtering in and out, instead of coming as groups (like I anticipated). It was pretty chaotic. But it still worked out ok, and I think they are way cute.

This is the only picture we got from Halloween. Last minute we decided to go trick-or-treating with our friends in Sandy, the Grossen's. Its becoming a fun tradition. And since our kiddos don't have cousins real close by, the boys love to get together when there are other little people around. They love Jack!

Happy Be-lated Halloween!

Mobile uploads and Random pics

A couple months ago, we went to the Greek Festival in SLC, with our friends the Hackings.

At the craft store the boys LOVE to see all the Halloween stuff. Max looks pretty creepy with the Max on.

Zac wanted a pic taken too

All ready for soccer! His first shin-guards

Another stubborn Max moment, he didn't get the food he wanted so he pushed a plate off the counter.

The boys jammin' out with my brother, Jacob

The lady of Timpanogos. At the park one day I took this with my phone. Can you see the outline of a woman's face? I think its so cool. And there are indian legends that go along with it too! See this link

.Another picture found online

Whenever we got to Target the boys love to get Pizza Hut, and lets face it, so do I! We all share a combo. Anyway, when were about done, I noticed this guy across the seating area. You can't see very well, but he was licking his plate several times!! Unbelievable!!

Trying on rain boots and hoping to get Jon's feed back. While holding slippers for me and the boys. I should have gotten a cart!

There is supposedly a local fresh restaurant on Main Street, called Spin Cafe.  Its sort of like Noodles and Co, with other fare too. But not as fresh and yummy, and its WAY over priced! Anyway, I really liked this pic in the dining room. Some day when I decorate my kitchen, I want a pic like this in it.

The fries were good. And the boys ate great! Everything was "spiny" that is what the call the noodles and the fries.

Haha, Zac combed his own hair. (Speaking of hair, the boys' hair grows so fast, and I never know how to cut it. We have also considered letting it grow out...but I really hate the in between scraggly stages!

Our old neighbors the Lindsey's always got "Boo'd" on Halloween and I was always so jealous that we didn't! So this year I decided to start it in our neighborhood. My neighbor, Sharalyn, helped me and we made pumpkin choco chip cookies.  Then it came back to us 2x! Even with the ghost out! I guess I got what I asked for :) It was fun. I found a good looking recipe on a blog for Sugar Gems. And thought it was great that they were different than normal sugar cookies...but they were not that good! Sorry, Laurel! Jon said they tasted like a bite of dry sugar... The boys love to help make and eat cookies!

Max loves to dip his food in plain sour cream. Funny!

As of Late

Jon went to LA for a couple nights for work and the boys and I painted and watched Percy Jackson and the Olympians one night.

I actually slept pretty well. A blessing, no TV, scriptures, and half a sleeping pill.

The first bite of snow for the season (The soon to be silly hat, that we forgot to pay for cuz Zac was wearing it out of the store. We did go back and pay for it).

While Zac was at preschool for Silly Hat day, I took Max to the library's story-time Halloween Party. It was fun to see some people from church there, color, play musical pumpkin, get a few treats, watch clogging and hear a fun story. It was pretty busy!

Later that day the boys wanted to play in the snow. Zac was so anxious to make a snowman. But Max was his stubborn self, and would not put 2 of his toys away so he could go out too.  So, Zac went out and Max tried to put his snow clothes on by himself.

I helped Zac make the first snowman of the season. I had to assure him that we will have LOTS- PLENTY of snow to make more.

Too Early for Snow?

Original Post date: Oct. 26, 2010

The last few days has been consistently stormy. It rained ALL day on Sunday, and most of the day Saturday and half of Monday. Last night it started to snow here.

I personally, am so ready for Christmas to come! I'm already done with Halloween, even though we've hardly done anything.

I hope I can hold out for the next month before swing into Christmas gear.

 Christmas is coming!

I have some back posting to do-standby.

Silly Hat Day

The Wednesday before Halloween, was Silly Hat day at Zac's preschool. So we headed to the craft store-my favorite place! And looked for stuff to make a silly hat. (Thank you Callie for the pipe cleaner idea!)

Zac really liked the sparkly pompoms which reminded me of fireworks.

And since one of Zac's favorite things to do during the year is watch the Fourth of July fireworks, I thought this would be great. We made little people sitting on a blanket watching the fireworks too! He helped me glue some things and it was his idea to put his name on there too.

At school

It was fun to go to the store with just Zac and to make this with him! He loved it!

Pumpkin Patch - The Red Barn

We love going to The Red Barn to get pumpkins every year.  But now that we live pretty far, we weren't going to go. But we decided we'd just trek out there.

The first winter storm was rolling in about 11a. We were hoping that we'd be able to grab our pumpkins and get back on the road before the storm hit...but if we weren't so lucky, it would be seen as an adventure. And it was an adventure.

On the way out Jon had a short conference call...

But Max wouldn't be quiet, so I let him play games on my phone to keep him distracted.

Sweet Zac, was patiently waiting his turn (when Dad would get off the phone).

And I was impatiently waiting for attention from Jon :]

We got there at 10:30a, right when our friends the Grossen's got there, and the tractor was ready and waiting. It was barely sprinkling at this point, so I grabbed the umbrella just in case...

With the weather we weren't able to get our traditional family pic on the hay ride.

Zac getting wet as the rain picked up.

Max is pretty soaked. Luckily his coat was scotch guarded. When dry Max's coat is not shiny.

We each took a boy and walked half way down the patch and took 1 min. to chose a pumpkin for each boy and then went back to the canopy. The rain really started to come down.

Mud from Max's shoes because I was holding him

Gratefully, a truck from the barn came to take the little babies back to the barn, so they didn't have to wait in the rain on the tractor.

Me fairly unsuccessfully attempting to hold the umbrella over me, Max and little Jack who was sitting behind me.

See how soaked my pants were!

And Jon's wet hair! He gave his beanie to Max.

We hung out at the barn had doughnuts and apple cider.  Then we went to the Grossen's to watch the BYU football game. The rain was really coming down!

And it had snowed on Timp while we were at the barn

Here's Max falling asleep on the way home. I'm glad we had the DVD player in the car.

The pumpkins got frozen outside that night and the next night since it snowed. So we didn't end up carving the pumpkins.
