Small town work arounds

Living in a small town has its perks and drawbacks. One drawback is that I have to drive quite aways to get certain things I need. This is probably the top inconvenience for me of living in Heber.

I was thinking of a project and grabbed this frame to see if it would work. Once I decided that it would work and got started on the project I needed 7 more. Jon works 5 mins from ikea. But since he doesn't know his way around stores it takes him 2-3x as long to find the specific thing I need.  I took these pics to make it as quick and painless as possible for him.

A pic of the product

The price, and all info in case he needs to ask an associate for help.

Lastly, and most importantly: A map of exactly where the product will be.

Max the Pirate

I was probably shopping for Enzo's birthday at Zurchers and Max saw this hat. The loved it and thought he was Captain Jack Sparrow! We seriously need to go on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland.

Binkies

Things are soooo different this time around having a baby. Some good and some bad...  I was putting Enzo in the car and found these 2 binkies on leashes in addition to the one he already had in his mouth. I texted this picture to Jon and his response was, "spoiled". Yeah that may be true, but with running all over, with both the older boys schedules and needs, and all the other things that need to be done, I need a happy baby. So I guess this makes me spoiled?

Valentines Happenings

I saw this onesie at Hobby Lobby and LOVED it! But it was $15! no way! I thought I can make that! Then headed over to the fabric area and got all my supplies. This was in January of course and by the time it was the day before Valentines, I got around to making it.

These are the Valentines we did this year. Of course a pinterest idea. It was so nice that it was already designed and I just needed to print them. I'd been thinking about it for months and also had time to collect glow sticks.

This is the onesie I made. Since it was the day before Valentines, I was in a rush and it didn't come out as nice as I'd like. I didn't change my thread colors, and used a pink marker to trace the fusible webbing. Oh, and I didn't have a pristine onesie. But I was able to cover anything spots with the heard and mustache.

I also helped in Max's preschool class with their party. I had a great time helping with Zac's classes when he went to this school.  This time I found a message in a bottle idea on pinterest.  I got different kinds of candies, and had the kids draw a picture and slip it in the glass bottles. The kids have fun with it.

Then we made sugar cookies when we got home from school. There was extra sugar cookie dough from activity days. It was perfect because I didn't have to make and set the dough!  The kids had been wanting to make them for valentines. And they were yummy!

Zac's Second Lost Tooth

Zac pulled this tooth out himself. He was pretty anxious about the whole thing. I'm so grateful he took care of it himself, so he felt in control. Growing up....

Utah Symphony

Somewhere around the middle of February

I can't quite remember, but we didn't have enough time to do a dinner and an activity for our anniversary in one night so we split it and perhaps combine for Valentines?

We went to the Symphony. They played Stravinsky and Mozart. It was beautiful!  I just enjoyed getting lost it all and kind of having that personal quiet in that atmosphere. I don't get that much with little kids around. It was also fun to dress up!

In the lobby before the performance there were a couple adolescents performing solos. It was AMAZING. I don't understand how people have the time at that age to develop a talent that complicated to expertly. They must have started at like 2 years old or had no life outside of their instrument! Or I suppose people just have that natural talent inside them where they can excel at something so complicated in such a short time.

Crafting

I need to create every so often. I saw these little heart trees on pinterest and LOVED them.  They aren't so easy to store, but I sure love to look at them during Valentines.

Instead of doing a traditional Valentine's Day party, Zac's class did a service project. They made these surgery buddies. This was an awesome idea!! I volunteered to help with the sewing and providing fabric. I sewed 8 dolls and 10-11 gowns, mostly in boy fabrics. It was a fun project to help with especially since Jon was out of town. I just wish I could've seen the finished products. I bet they were adorable. Max got one of these at his last surgery, so I know they are just perfect for little kids.
