I helped with carpool for Zac's class when we went to Museum of Natural History. I'd never been there before. It was great! The kids loved it!
This was a cool ant hill. It really was amazing to see the different things that the ants were doing, crawling over another, digging a new path, fighting.
They also had these fun scenes, with animals, plants and insects that are native to that environment. They had a wheel with pictures and information on each animal in the scene. The boys in my group had a great time finding each one.
I thought this was really cool. Mostly, probably because I had a hard time with physical discomfort and I can't imagine what it was like to wear shoes like these in the extremely different seasons and rough terrain.
I loved this description of the area
They also had a really cool water table. It was a topographical map of Salt Lake and surrounding areas. It was closed in and you could control the amount of "rain" it got and see what would flood at certain water levels.
They also had another cool exhibit where you could build a tower and set an earthquake off and see what happens with different levels and types of movement of the plates. They also had a pad where you and anyone you want could jump and it would measure the seismic waves you created.
The picture doesn't do it justice, but these deep bright blue butterflies are beautiful.
It was great. I really love going on field trips with Zac's class. We also get to take Max and Enzo along so its really fun that we get to experience it all together and for free! Enzo was awesome. He just sat in the stroller the whole time. He is an observer so he loves to watch and take everything in.
