Christmas Day 2012

Last year, the boys' woke up Christmas Morning to ribbons criss crossing their bedroom door, and this year the same was expected. This is wrapping paper.

"Santa's Been Here!!!"

Have I talked about our Elf on here? This is Phantom Filament, or Fil, our Elf on the Shelf. He left us a note before he headed back to the North Pole.

Max's stocking

Rachel, Dave, and Emily's stockings.

And bummer! I didn't get a pic of Jon and mine! :(

Christmas Eve was a rough night let me tell you! I was up really late and started feeling nausea cuz I was so tired! Enzo slept in our room because we had guests and he would NOT sleep in the portcrib! :( I don't know what the deal was. He woke up like 15 mins after we went to bed around 1:45a. Jon is awesome and he went and cuddled with him and played with him. About an hour later I woke up and they were still up. I tried to bring Enzo in bed, but he wouldn't sleep. I made him a bottle (second of the night AFTER being put to bed), and he fell asleep for like another hour? I fell asleep and woke up some time later, and Jon was sleeping on the floor with Enzo and pillows all around. It felt like we were camping because we couldn't go anywhere. All areas were in use. I felt bad and almost got up to trade him, but thought I'm so tired and I don't want to risk waking Enzo up. So I went back to sleep. Probably another hour or so later. I hear Enzo stirring and Jon was now in bed, so I went and sat on the floor with him to help him stay asleep. Then he calms down and I feel warmness on my stomach.......he peed out of his diaper. Two bottles in the middle of the night will do that.....AND I didn't have ANY extra diapers or pajamas. I didn't think to get them out of his room!!! And Rachel else was sleeping in there. So I just picked him up and took him in bed with me, tucking a sheet between him and I where he peed. I think it was about half hour later he started to wake up and it was a little after 7a. We decided to just get up and Jon went and got the diaper bag in the car so I could change Enzo. So if you wonder why he isn't dressed in any of the pics...thats why!  (I think Dave had a rough night too. Sounds like he had the flu. He and Rachel opened their gifts real quick, talked with her brother on a mission on Skype, and headed home.)

But still such a cutie!

Tired boys

Happy Enzo

Look at his neck flexed-soooo excited!

Man, I just love him!!

The rest of these pics are from Emily's phone/facebook page

Zac got night vision spy goggles. He is very grateful! He's been jealous of Max's camera he got at his birthday.

Jon's been wanting a G Shock watch

And I'VE been wanting a blendtec blender!!! I didn't know what this was when I started to unwrap it. I gasped when I realized!! Yay!!!!!

After cleaning up we heading to Provo for Christmas dinner with my parents and siblings. I always forget to get pics at dinner. Em took pics of the boys making funny faces on the way to take her home.

Christmas Eve

Jon had the day off which I was very happy about. We just cleaned the house and did all the last min stuff. Wrapped a couple gifts, I made a couple very basic stockings for Emily and Dave, and got last min groceries.

Emily and Dave came to spend the holiday with us, as well as a last min guest, Dave's brand new fiancĂ©, Rachel.  I didn't want to her feel left out (or field questions from the boys about a missing stocking) so I ran out and got her some stuff for Christmas morning.

Jon's been teaching the boys to play chess the last couple months. So he and Max played a game.

Decorating cookies for Santa. I had planned to make sugar cookies with the boys, but didn't have time. Gratefully, Days had plain ones.

The boys' Christmas Eve church stuff: a couple activity books and Articles of Faith flash cards.

New jammies! Oh, look at my cute little boys!

A Moment to Look at The View

Dec 23

I usually take lots of pics of the decor because I just enjoy it so much at this time of year. It makes things so special. But this year has been so different. I just haven't felt it.

I LOVE the sparkly paper I got at Costco this year. (Tape doesn't stick very well at all though. But the pretty ribbon makes up for it!)

I layed Enzo under the tree with his bottle hoping he wouldn't roll over until it was empty. I think it helped.

Neighbor Gifts

Dec 23

This year I planned REALLY far ahead. I decided to make freezer jam in August for our neighbor gifts. I saw a recipe on Pinterest for strawberry peach freezer jam. This season, all I had to do was cut fabric and put tags on them. So cute! And I hope tasty!! I didn't get to try any, we ran out. I also made a last min gift wrap kit (with tape, bows, tags and some treats) for people who were out of town. I had hoped to get the gifts out sooner, but its been crazy. I've actually had so much stress about everything going on that I can't sleep past 7a. If you know me (someone who can sleep til 10a easily) you know thats a big deal!

Stockings

Dec 23

With a new baby this year, I needed to make another stocking! I wish I'd thought of it earlier in the year. Luckily, I bought the fabric back in November so I didn't have to worry about going to Utah county to find some.

I threw it together and made some rookie mistakes because I was in a hurry. I never wrote directions down and just copied a pattern I made 7 years ago from Jon's stocking. I finally wrote the directions down this time since there are some things that need to be done before others, like sewing the trim on the toe piece before sewing the stocking together.

I really like the fabric for Enzo's. It makes me want to remake all of them so they match better. But, its probably good to just leave it. I can see the different stages of life when I made each one.

Kolb Christmas Activities

Dec 22

Since the Holidays are pretty busy my dad made some plans early on to make sure we'd all be able to come.  A lot of them fell through, but we were able to go to The Christmas Carol play at the Hale Center Theater in Orem. That was great and it was fun to take the boys. This was the second live performance they've been too. The last one was like 4 years ago. They had a good time too.

We were going to all have lunch together, but we ran out of time before we had to meet up for family pictures.

We hired my friend Amy Lindsey to take our family pics. I think they turned out great!

Max was so cold! At one point we asked him to put his hands down and he put them to his face, dropped his face and started crying. So cute and sad at the same time. So at that point we did funny pictures and this was one she got. Its a gem!! He starting laughing right after this messing around with Daddy.

Then Jon and I had another party so Lexie and Ben watched Zac and Max. And we took Enzo with us. My family all went to Sizzler for dinner and then they finished our gingerbread house. I thought I took a pic of the finished one, but I can't find one. The boys had a really fun time. And stayed up til 12:45a! We didn't get home til about 1:30a. Bad parents! Ha
