Random Enzo Pics from October

His cute little hands

Eating a banana in a mesh feeder thing. His first one, he LOVED it! And check out those cubby arms! At 6 months he weighed 19 lbs!

His first oreo!

Halloween 2012

We had to get up a bit earlier so we could get all the makeup and hair done. (I can't imagine having to get girls ready for school!)

Zac practicing how to be a Zombie. It was pretty fun to put this costume together especially after going to the Thriller show.

Max. Max. Max.
He told me back in Sept that he wanted to be a robot and I was trying to get it all order because I know costumes run out when it gets close to Halloween. He tired it on when it arrived in the mail and I thought we were all good to go! Then Halloween rolls around. I have him put it on to go to school and he hates the head piece. He says it itches. I try to make it fit better hoping it will help. But it doesn't. He doesn't want to wear this costume. We need to leave for school in 15 mins. I was not ready to fight him on it so I ran down stairs and dumped out the costume bin. There wasn't much that would fit him. I had some homemade costumes, but those don't really last. He was going to be Peter Pan, he had it all on, but then I couldn't find the hat. I knew I had seen it in the toys somewhere, but I could not find it. (Of course, I found it the next day.) Ok, Ok....so no Peter Pan. I just had him use his Handy Manny costume that he wore last year. And he was happy about that. To make sure I pulled up the Handy Manny theme and intro on my phone and let him watch that a couple times on the way to school.

Cute Enzo just hanging out.

Then it was time for me to get ready. I had volunteered to help/do the treat for Max's Halloween Party that day.

Enzo and me- I don't know if many people got what I was.

We made graveyard pudding for the treat. Chocolate pudding, oreo crumbs, bloody bone sprinkles, gummy worms and milano cookies for the tombstone.

(Handy Manny-Costume 3 of the day)

Max really wanted to do these eye ball donut holes so we threw those together quick.

When I got home my visiting teachers left this on my door step. It was so nice!

An hour later when I went back to get Max from preschool, this is what he looked like....

Ok, so no more Handy Manny. Pirate it is. Luckily (?) he hasn't grown much so he fit his costume from when he was 3.

What a funny little kid.

We had white chili for dinner and got ready to trick or treat. Jon isn't happy. Last year we when trick or treating down our street but half the people weren't home AND they still had their lights on. It was a waste of time. This year I had been planning to trick or treat in another area of our ward boundaries. But we'd drive over there. Jon didn't want to do that at all. And he felt like someone needed to be home to hand out candy. I personally, would rather leave a bowl on the door step and go out as a family. But we had to agree to disagree. Jon stayed home to hand out candy and I took the boys trick or treating.

It was interesting this year. The boys would go up to the door and after they got the candy would just stand there. The people at the door didn't really know what to do. The boys would say thank you, but didn't turn around and come down til like 30 seconds after the people would slowly close their door. They obviously don't get the concept of going as fast as you can so you get more candy. This neighborhood was much better. There were lots more kids and the homeowners knew the code....if your light is on, you answer the door. If you are not home, turn your light off.

The boys were more excited about the decorations much of the time.

Slowly checking out the lights.

They got some pretty good loot. Note to self: bring the stroller, not just the baby carrier next time. It was getting pretty cold by the time we finished and I didn't have a blanket or coat for Enzo and Max was wearing flip flops and short pants! Baby brain!

Working on Halloween Costumes

Oct 30

I've generally sworn off making Halloween costumes because it wears me and out and I don't want to sew for Christmas. But this year I did some.

Another Pinterest idea.....Back in the beginning of Sept when I was getting excited for Halloween, I bought Enzo a spider costume and planned to make a web skirt for me.

I didn't have a white long skirt so I just made one and guessed how to do it. The skirt didn't go as smooth as I'd planned, but it still worked as intended. I also made a petticoat to go with it to help it poof out. I made the web with black yarn.  The directions for the web part were from Martha Stewart.

The skirt is on a lamp so I could space out the webbing correctly.

Zac decided he wanted to be a zombie. It was kind of hard to find something that wouldn't be too gory for a first grader. But after looking online we found a look we liked.  He wore some ripped jeans from last year. I shredded them a little more with a box cutter. He wore a black shirt with skeleton ribs on it. And I got a gray suit jacket at a thrift store. I shredded the coat up some too. The we dragged the jeans and jacket through the garden to dirty them up, like he'd come out of the grave. We sprayed a little white hair spray in his messy hair and added some skeleton hand gloves that we had hanging around the house.

I found a great video on youtube to do this make up. The lady did it on a 4 year old. I love how it came out. This is when we practiced the day before Halloween to make sure we'd be all ready for the big day.

Zac LOVED it, even though the pic doesn't show that.

Carving Pumpkins

Oct 28

As we have given up carving our own pumpkins and letting the boys draw their own pumpkin design this tradition has become a lot more manageable! Not to mention I found an battery powered pumpkin carving knife! Its is fabulous!

Little Enzo's first pumpkin

I found these plastic pumpkin teeth at a local store, and thought it was so fun to do two bottom teeth, just like Enzo. He had just cut the second bottom tooth the week before.

Max wanted to do a batman logo

And Zac designed his own

Max's Crazy Hat Day

Oct 26

Again, I found this idea on Pinterest. And it was pretty simple. It took some phone calls and a few stops to find the right kind of yarn.

Its a mohawk beanie. Max loved it!

I love how you can see his personality in these pictures.

This is the hat we made for Zac's silly hat day.

Activity Days Halloween Party

Oct 25

I was called to be an Activity Days leader at the end of the summer.  So now I work with the 8-9 year old girls instead of the 8 year old boys. And woah, what a different world! It was pretty intimidating at first. But I'm getting into it.

Since I like parties, (We did one for St. Patrick's Day with the cub scouts.) I decided to do a Halloween Party and have the girls dress up in their costumes. I took most of these game/treat ideas from Pinterest.

I made little goodie bags.

This originally was found as "Witch Pitch", but I couldn't find little black cauldrons at the party store. They had run out. So I got these little pumpkins instead and called it "Pumpkin Pitch" which I think still works cleverly, instead of rhyming its an alliteration! (I'm showing my dorkiness here.) The girls are to toss candy corns in. Apparently, it was pretty hard b/c only one out of 8 made any in and she made 3 out of 7!

Then we did bowling with jack-o-toilet paper rolls and a round pie making pumpkin.

I got a Halloween spider kit for cupcakes.

And we made these spider webs with pretzels and melted while chocolate.

The girls had a good time and it was fun to throw a Halloween Party!

The First Snow

Oct 24

Its always a surprise when it snows before Halloween

Oct 25
Thats a good amount of snow. Jon slid off the road on his way to work in Park City. It took about 40 mins but he was able to get back on the road without assistance.

This what the roads looked like at 11a, 3 hours after Jon went through and slid off.
