The Zoo

 July 7

Our old friends the Larsen's came to visit. It was fun to catch up. I'm waiting for a picture from Denise.  Of us 3 girls. And I could post one from like 13 years ago and then a current one! Ha :)....if  can find it. I have been looking for it for the last 45 mins. Its been kicking around here for years! And when I actually want it I can't find it!

Anyway, after that we went to the Zoo with our friends the Oleksa's. ----
Today, four and a half months later...I'll finish this post...

The boys had a great time!  And it was so easy for me since there were 2 older girls who love to dote on Max! I enjoyed hanging out with my friend Emily.

Tiger

?

These Dinos were new, and were animatronic (if thats the right word). It was pretty creepy to be up close.

Yummy Pizza

Zac LOVES maps!

We stayed for the Elephant show...which to be honest was pretty slow and lame.

Digging for fossils in the sand box.

Yummy ice cream cones that tasted a little like different flavors of laffy taffy.

These Dinos sprayed water occasionally.

All wet

I thought Max looked so cute in this hat!

To Blog or Not to Blog....

I'm not in the mood to do this...in fact, I should probably be preparing a talk for Stake Conference this Sunday...we were told there are no assigned speakers and they asked everyone to prepare a talk, as they are going to make the decision who will speak and announce it at the beginning of Stake Conference. Can we say, scary?!  I think my topic will be on cheerfully fulfilling your calling, your responsibilities, living life etc. I already have some conference talks picked out to read for inspiration and direction, but I guess procrastinating my talk a little longer is what will get me to blog today! :)

I actually have a blog post almost ready that I started back in July....

What? I have a blog?

You have just experienced the characteristic drought that happens to a blog when the writer has morning, or rather, all day sickness....

We are expecting! Baby Boy #3!

Due March 20th

I will begin to back post eventually, but I just don't care about stuff lately-Im too tired to.  So who knows when that will start. Ideally, I'd like to finish before Christmas. It has been on my mind for the last month or so.

Life has been busy lately, most of which I'll try to include in my back posting-for journalling purposes (even though I haven't taken many pictures the last few months).

Another big thing to happen in our family is, Jon was called to be the Second Counselor in the Bishopric in our ward. He was set apart and ordained a High Priest last Sunday. It was great to have most of his family with us. We are excited for this new adventure.

Crafting

July 5 and 6

It was nice to be able to fit a couple crafts in, especially with all the busyness of moving, unpacking, the holiday and family visiting. I sure miss doing crafts.

I've been wanting to make a flag banner like this for more than a year. I want to put one in the boys room. I found it at V and Co.

I haven't made it happen until Rachel's baby shower came. I search online about cute decorations and all. The theme was baseball. I really think all the decorations and details make it feel different and feel festive. Just like Secondsister says. (By the way I really want to go to this Spark Event....anyone want to go with me?!)

Ok, ok so I did this the very cheap way since I was doing different things to decorate and the games were a bit expensive too.

I bought about 1/4 of a yard of 6 different fabrics: baseballs in 3 different colors and 3 solid patterns in similar colors. I cut them in to charm pack size then cut the triangles. Then I bought muslin and made my own bias tape. All the cutting was a hassle. But sewing it all together was really simple and quick. And I LOVE how it turned out!

Lexie and I also made a diaper cake. This was my first one. We watched a couple tutorials on youtube before deciding how to proceed.  I don't love it (Lexie does :) the red and blue are baseball colors and the green is like the grass on the field), but it worked out well still. I think I'll do things differently next time with the ribbon and getting the accessories to stay on the cake. And I'd do the color scheme and ribbons differently. The middle is a bottle of martinelli's. We couldn't find a stuffed animal that was baseball themed so sewed this bear in a few places so it could hold Zac's baseball.

Hot Air Balloons and Parade

 July 4

Reluctantly, we decided we'd try to make it to the hot air balloons. Its the event the boys most remember about the fourth. We had to wake up about 5:00a to get there to make it worth it.

When we first got there, there was a life flight helicopter loading up a baby. So sad. I've never been this close to a helicopter. It was amazing the strength and force of the wind right before it took off. Pretty cool.

This year they had a Darth Vader balloon for the first time. We were excited to see it. For the first time we watched all the Star Wars movies with the boys back in January or February. So the boys are starting to realize who these guys are. I'm surprise they weren't more nervous about getting a pic!

Unfortunately, the weather was NOT cooperating... We were there for about 45 mins before we learned that the balloons were NOT going to fly today. Sigh, bummer!

But a few baskets were out, some were blowing the flames

Here's the crowd

Some owners let the kids get in the baskets for photo ops. On the way out of this basket, Max reached up and tried to pull the cord to blow the flames! Haha The owner was pretty surprised and taken by back Max's attempt.

As we were heading through the field to the car, we learned that some balloons would inflate at the most. So we decided to stay and watch. Its always soo cool to see and sooo great to be so close!

Where's Jon?

I had to lay on the ground to get this shot.

Then we grabbed some doughnuts and drinks for breakfast and headed over to the parade route where Lexie and Ben were saving a spot. Michael and Maryanne were also running the 5k-sweet! Unfortunately, we weren't there in time to see them pass by.

The overcast weather was GREAT for the parade! It didn't get as hot this year, and it even sprinkled a little.  The sun came out a little ways through the parade.

My favorite floats are the royalty floats. I love how pretty and glittery they are!

I love the canons too!

A few years ago, someone was selling swords out of foam swim noodles and PVC pipes along the parade route I bought a couple and the boys LOVED them!! I've been looking for them every year since but haven't been able to find them. (They sell them for $4 at Camp Jeremiah Johnson up Hobble Creek) Anyway, so when we were at the freedom festival I asked this guy who sold other things made out of noodles if he had any and it was being weird and cryptic and said no, but will have some on Monday. So I decided to go back and look on Monday. Lexie took me down on her scooter. But the guys booth was closed. At least, there was another booth that sold all sorts of swords, metal, medieval, ninja, etc. And he has some for kids they are heavier and seemingly higher quality. They have wooden handles and a smooth foam shaft.

Max trying to fight Zac, while on Adams shoulders. But as you can see...haha Max is poking Adams eye and he sword is falling. I suppose it was too heavy and Max was losing his balance!

After the parade we were going to eat at Zupas, but they were closed! So we went over to Rumbi with Michael and Maryanne. Currently, an effective way to get Max to eat his food is to tell him it builds muscles. He is show us his muscles that he has from eating his lunch.

Zac showing his too

They we headed to Jon's parent's hotel room and rested for a bit. After that we all had dinner at my parents. Smoked ribs and all works for BBQ. Good food! I wish I had taken some pics. But normally I'm too busy eating and relaxing that I forget to pull out the camera.

A Quiet Sunday

 July 3

These are all taken with one of our phones.

We decided to head over to the fishing/duck pond out at Wasatch State Park and feed the ducks.

This is toward the north. Snow capped mountains.
