Camping in the Uintas

July 15-16

With the busyness of last summer 2010, selling the house, packing, moving, and everything we only went camping once-to Zion's. This year I really wanted to make sure we got a lot of camping in...but with moving AGAIN, and getting pregnant it didn't work out that way. But I am glad we got to go a couple times.

This was our first time camping in the Uintas. It's really pretty. Unfortunately, i didn't reserve a campsite online and since there was so much snow this last year, some of the campgrounds were still closed, I had to go up earlier in the day and scout stuff out. Then wait for Jon to get home from work before we could head back up there. I don't even remember the name of the camp ground, but it was closer to Kamas and only a few minutes pass the pay booth. Our site was nice and wooded. This is what it looked like looking up from the fire pit area.

The campsite

Can you tell they were excited to eat s'mores!

I love this pic-I just wish I remember why he was laughing :)

Bad pic of me- growing my bangs out and exhausted from getting ready for the trip-but luckily not feeling morning sick yet.

The fire wood we bought in Heber was really smokey and burned really fast. Since the summer came so late, there was plenty of dead branches and trees cut down that we used to fuel the fire. It was a little scary though, with all the branches sticking out of the fire.

We made up a new camping game. Its a combination of Marco Polo and hide and seek, with lanterns. Someone goes and hides with a light off, and when the seeker makes a noise or says Marco (I don't remember) the hider turns their light on and then off really quick, and then moves. And its repeated until the seeker finds the hider. It was pretty fun and the boys loved it!

Go out to hide in the brush

The moon was full and very pretty that night.

It took a bit for the boys to fall asleep. We finally have a system of keeping them warm through out the night.

Cute boys helping each other stay warm

After we packed up we headed up further into the Uintas to hike a little into Clyde Lake.

New baby flowers

Lots of snow still for the middle of June

Haha, I can't resist!
